Creation 'Science'

Here's a website I like to rummage about in when I'm looking for a bit of mental stimulation - Answers in Genesis.

I think the central thesis of this site is that the bible is the literal word of god and it therefore true in every single detail. Actually, I see no problem with that for a fundamentalist christian to accept that as a article of their faith and then just leave it at that. I'm pretty sure that their god has the capacity to make the bible true and also to put us on a 4.5 billion year old planet.

But these guys won't give god a break. Surely it is not within the remit of any person to understand this god so deeply that they cannot accept that an apparent contradiction between the bible and scientific research could simply be caused by our imperfect capacity to understand why both things could be true at the same time? No, these guys have to force god's plan into their understanding. The bible must be supported by science. God is not allowed to have framed the universe in any other way.

Surely that level of arrogance will cause you to burn in hell? Now, that would be ironic. That's the kind of god I could have a beer with!
